Caring For Your Dog's Teeth

When you have a dog, you want to make sure you care for all of their needs. One of the areas of concern a lot of dog owners neglect is caring for their dog's teeth properly. Many dog owners don't think their dog's teeth need to be cared for, since dogs in the wild don't have humans helping them with their oral care. However, dogs in the wild live a different lifestyle, they eat different foods that aren't processed and they also don't tend to have as long of lives as domesticated dogs are often able to have. You want to make sure you care for your dog's teeth properly and this article will help you to learn how.
Brush your dogs teeth – You want to get a tooth brush for your dog and get a tooth paste that is intended to be used on dogs. Brush their teeth a few times a week. This will help you to remove a lot of the plaque that they get on their teeth that will turn to tartar and that will cause cavities. If your dog gets cavities, then they will need to have their teeth pulled and this can be expensive and is hard for your dog to go through.
Take your dog to the vet – Not only do you want to make sure you take your dog to the vet annually to get their shots, but you also want to make sure you have their teeth looked at by the vet as well. By having your dog's teeth thoroughly examined once a year, you can help decrease the chances of them ending up with all kinds of dental issues.
Feed your dog good food – Feeding your dog a good quality, grain-free food will help to cut down on the chances of your dog developing cavities, as well as other dental issues like gum disease. A grain-free food is also good for your dog's overall health, as it won't be giving them a bunch of things like fillers, sugars, and carbs that they don't need.
